Haiku of the Week Archives: July 2026

July 2026

It’s mont bretia time…

The verges burning
With orange mont bretia flames.
Road-tar is melting.

Watching a thrush in a field…

Long field, newly sown.
A thrush hops about, head cocked.
Listening to grass grow.

Hedges are incredible at this time of year, especially this years…

Hedges encroaching:
Brambles, bracken and briars.
Nature resurgent.

Swifts…

High in the wide sky,
flicker-winged swifts exulting,
Screaming their freedom.

Meadowsweet…

The white-lined roadside
celebrates its abundance:
Blossom confetti.
