May 2017

Silage cutting time, watching farmers follow ageless patterns and traditions…

Tractors lay cut grass
concentrically ’round thorn trees,
like ancient carvings.

Bantry market, sunshine, dancing, music; will the rain hold off? Of course!

Swifts sweep high circuits
Rain-bruised clouds gather above
Below, music plays

Finally, after six weeks of dry weather, a change

The hills roar hoarsely.
Unroll white, streaming ribbons.
Welcoming the rain.

My writing disturbed by noisy bees caught in the sunny window…

Buzzing loud complaints,
trapped bumble bee waves an arm.
Seeking attention.
