Haiku of the week archives: March 2024

Hazels add a touch of welcome colour…

Bright green stars shine out,
illuminating hazels,
Pinpoints of colour.

Still bad weather, but anemones are appearing…

Heads bowed modestly,
they fill the woods, lifting hearts,
lightening dark days.

So beautiful to see the whitethorn opening, a little more each day…

In small, creamy bursts,
along bare blackthorn branches,
Spring puffs like popcorn.

Watching tiny wagtails casually nip in and out among huge cars…

Insouciantly,
like cleaner fish in sharks’ mouths,
wagtails dodge traffic.

In like a lion, a very wet lion…

Stream chants a flood-song,
Foam-bergs spin slowly in time,
Daffodils head-bang.
