April ’09

Cherry trees

Like ancient heroes,
the cherry blossoms’ lives are
short but glorious.

April journey

Glowing dandelions,
a million mini-suns
thronging the verges,

the grey carriageway boredom,
cheering us onwards.

Rainy Day

Galley Head a blur,
misty rollers of soft air
pour in with the waves.

Silver-head jackdaw
glides to convenient perch.
Twig change, claw to claw.

Faint coconut scent
flavours early April air
’round gorse thickets.
