March 2012

Hot, long days, sunshine, dawn chorus, light breezes…this is the life! In like a lamb…and out like a lamb, also!

Bright bowl of bird song.
Sun’s heat trumps the North wind’s chill.
Clothes-line bunting flies.

Sunshine at last, it must be nearly eleven months since we’ve had a few days together of bright, warm sun. Not only we appear bedazzled and bemused…

Bumble bees are out,
pale, fumbling after long sleep.
Blinking like old folks.

Lá ‘le Phádraig, St. Patrick’s Holiday weekend and good weather, amazingly!

Bright bowl of birdsong.
Sun’s heat trumps the North wind’s chill.
Clothes-line bunting flies.

The birds know it’s Spring. Their song is beginning to swell and fill the mornings. Around us, the great tits are most vocal.

Bicycle-pump song:
Great tits inflate the morning –
Fill it to bursting.

In like a lamb, March snuck in this year, a glorious, sun-filled antidote to all those months of mist and fog…

The mist, no more here,
long-unseen views reappear.
Birds sing our relief.
